Moody?s lowered its credit grade on Energy Future to Caa3, nine steps below investment grade, and that of Oncor to Baa2, two levels above junk, according to an Aug. 9 rating report. The New York-based rating company said it expects ?material balance sheet restructuring in the next 12 to 18 months? amid ?low natural gas prices? that will damp Energy Future?s ability to generate cash.

Credit card debt may linger after death of a spouse
However, states differ in how they handle the issue of credit card debt for a surviving spouse. In community property states like California, debt acquired during the marriage can be considered as owned by both parties. In such a case, it may be possible for the credit card companies to come after the surviving spouse, even for an account that was held solely in the deceased spouse?s name.
