Humane Society director charged with drug fraud

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) - Sheboygan County Humane Society's director is charged with drug fraud.

A criminal complaint says Eilene Ribbens ordered large amounts of prescription drugs from a New Jersey pharmacy and identified herself as a veterinary technician, a title she doesn't hold.

The complaint says Ribbens received 1,000 tablets of a pain medication and 480 milliliters of an anti-seizure drug last July. Prosecutors say Ribbens told an employee to put the shipment on her desk instead of with other vet supplies. Ribbens contends she bought the medication for relatives who couldn't afford the drugs for their pets.

The Sheboygan Press says the 59-year-old Ribbens is charged with obtaining prescription drugs by fraud and drug possession.
