AK Steel reaches deal with Zanesville Works union

Union workers at AK Steel's Zanesville Works plant ratified a new labor agreement last week.

The union representing 185 hourly production and maintenance employees at AK Steel?s Zanesville Works plant has agreed to a new labor contract.

The three-year agreement between West Chester-based AK Steel Holding Corp.?

Terms of the deal were not outlined in the release, and representatives from the company and the union did not immediately return calls.

?We are pleased to have reached a new labor agreement at our Zanesville Works well ahead of the expiration date,? CEO James Wainscott said in the release. ?The new agreement continues to provide a competitive and flexible labor contract for AK Steel and our Zanesville employees.?

Union members ratified the agreement March 9.
