Is this paranoid? - Psychology and Mental Health Forum

I agree with Ada. Most of the posts in this thread are examples of paranoia, but it's probably not clinically significant.

As for myself, I often think that the person who's walking behind me is following me and that he/she may want to harm me or try to steal from me. It doesn't happen every day, but it does happen at least a few times a week. It doesn't cause me much anxiety, I just sort of make sure to keep my eye on the person behind me.

Anyway, I was walking home and I could here these guys shouting a lot of shlt, not to me but they were shouting it probably to intimidate anyone who was close by. I can't remember the exact words but they were shouting something like "If we see anyone we are sticking this blade in their fuking neck."

This happens to me, too. I think they are mild ideas of reference (i.e., not the fullblown "The newscaster on TV is talking about me!!!" idea of reference). I almost always think people are referring to me when they say something like "this guy was..." or "and then he..." before my rationality kicks in and I realize that they probably weren't referring to me. This feeling is a lot more common than the feeling that the person behind me is following me, though.

Edit: I didn't really read your post properly. I thought you were saying that you thought they were referring to you. Never mind.

You might sleep, but you will never dream.
