Something Swanky: desserts and designs.: Pumpkin White ...

So.

....it was an interesting blog weekend.?

I had an embarrassing meltdown.

And just in case you missed it on FB, I made sure to email it out to every single contact in my gmail.

So here's what happened: my sister and I were perusing Pinterest on Friday night. She was excited to see my Pumpkin Better Than... Cake on the main Food/Drink page, and clicked through just for the fun of it. You can imagine my surprise when a website (that was not my own) appeared, prominently displaying my recipe and my photograph, with absolutely no credit or link back to me anywhere.

Upon further investigation, I found that this site already had close to 10 thousand pins of my recipe from their site. Ugh. I felt sick. And violated. And angry.

So I had a little bit of a tantrum and asked all of you to visit the site to demand they remove the recipe and photo. And bless all of your hearts, so many of you left me sweet comments saying that you tried to comment.

THANK YOU. Your support is so noticed and appreciated!

Here's the most recent news: as you may have already seen on facebook (thanks Aimee and Vanessa), this site has, apparently, been set up for the sole purpose of stealing recipes and photos. And when the owner discovers the theft, they put out word to all of their friends to visit the site and demand the recipe be removed (sound familiar?), thus generating tons of traffic.

And, of course, no one behind the site has any intention of removing the stolen goods from their horrible, pilfering site. I think we can safely assume our comments won't be appearing on the post either.

So what am I doing about it? I'm working with Pinterest to stop the bleeding. I'm reporting the incident to Google. And I'm contacting the folks who host their website. I'm watermarking all of my photos.

And I'm drowning my sorrows in frozen hot chocolate made with Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses (which I am obsessed with this year).

Make it. You'll love it. I promise.

Pumpkin White Chocolate Frozen Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz. (a little over a cup, but I'd weigh it if you have a scale) Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses
  • 1/4 c. heavy cream
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 c. ice
  • whipped cream to top

Directions:

  1. Microwave the unwrapped hershey? kisses for 30 seconds at a time until melted and smooth.
  2. Whisk in the half of the milk and the half and half until well blended.
  3. Pour mixture into the blender. Add the remaining milk and the 2 cups of ice.?
  4. Pulse until blended and smooth.
  5. Pour into chilled glasses and top with whipped cream. Serves 2.

You can save this recipe to your own Recipe Box via ZipList. And they'll take the ingredients from the recipe and generate a shopping list just for you accessible on your computer or mobile device! I use mine all the time. If you aren't already using this really awesome recipe tool, take a minute to sign up at ZipList.com (it's free)!
